About the Community Care Center
Who We Are
The Community Care Center (CCC) is a beacon of hope, providing free healthcare to those who can’t afford it. Since 2000, we’ve served over 25,000 patients with medical care delivered with compassion, sensitivity, and respect. We provide primary, dental, and vision care, mental health services, and medication. Our team of dedicated healthcare professionals volunteer their time and expertise to provide high-quality care.
Our patients, many of whom are employed but unable to afford healthcare, are integral members of our community. At the CCC, we believe every person deserves access to healthcare, regardless of their financial situation, and our goal is a healthy and productive community.
Our mission is made possible through the unwavering support of our community. At the CCC, we’re more than a clinic—we’re a family dedicated to caring for one another and making a difference in the lives of those we serve.

Volunteer Providers
The Community Care Center could not do what we do without our volunteer medical providers. We are a community of dedicated doctors, dentists, and nurses offering their expertise to our patients; specialists providing free care; universities and colleges sending residents, nurses, physical and occupational therapists. We are part of a wide network of compassionate individuals who care about those in our community who cannot afford medical care. Some are retired and are “paying it forward.” Some come straight from work. We are grateful to them all.

Our History
The Community Care Center (CCC) was established on October 23, 2000, as a free medical clinic to serve those unable to afford healthcare. From the initial twelve patients, the clinic quickly expanded to meet demand. Over the past two decades, the CCC has cared for 25,000 patients, contributed thousands of volunteer hours, and provided $150 million in services and medicines, thanks to the support of the community, nonprofits, medical specialists, churches, and educational institutions.
The CCC was founded by a group of individuals, including Dr. William Satterwhite, Jr., Dr. Ernesto de la Torre, and Dr. Carl and Peggy Phipps, who recognized the need for accessible healthcare. Their high standard of care and commitment continues to define the CCC. The CCC’s building was generously provided by Forsyth Medical Hospital.
Volunteers have always been at the heart of the CCC. Early contributors like Ann Austin Flynt worked tirelessly to secure resources for the clinic, and volunteers like Danny Lawrence and Clarice Roth continue this legacy of dedication.
The CCC’s impact on the community is significant, offering not only primary care but 15 specialties including dental and vision care, mental health support, and a medication dispensary. This comprehensive approach helps keep people at work, in school, and out of emergency rooms, significantly reducing healthcare costs and improving the overall health of the community.
