The Community Care Clinic is proud to announce the appointment of Dr. Richard Montgomery as its new Medical Director, marking a significant milestone in the clinic’s continued commitment to providing compassionate, high-quality care to uninsured and underserved individuals in the community.

Dr. Montgomery brings more than four decades of medical experience to this leadership role. A graduate of the Wake Forest School of Medicine (Class of 1980), he specializes in Emergency Medicine and is affiliated with Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center. Over his 46-year medical career, Dr. Montgomery has demonstrated an unwavering dedication to patient care and community service.

For the past 26 years, Dr. Montgomery has been an integral part of the Community Care Clinic, serving both as a staff physician and a devoted volunteer. His longstanding commitment to caring for uninsured patients has made a lasting impact on countless lives throughout the region.

“It has been my deepest joy over the years to serve the underprivileged at the CCC with such a wonderful staff,” said Dr. Montgomery.

Dr. Montgomery succeeds Dr. John St. Angelo, who has served as Medical Director for over two years. The clinic extends its sincere gratitude to Dr. St. Angelo for his leadership and contributions during his tenure. He will continue to support the clinic on a part-time basis while expanding his other medical practice.

“We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Montgomery into this leadership role,” said Interim Executive Director David Middleton. “His deep connection to our mission, combined with his extensive clinical experience and long-standing service to the clinic, make him exceptionally well-suited to guide our medical team into the future.”

Dr. Frank Moyer has been named Associate Medical Director. After 44 years of practicing family medicine, Moyer retired from Novant Health’s Maplewood Family Practice in 2022, began volunteering at the CCC in 2023, and joined the staff part-time in 2024.
